David Werring, FRCP, Ph.D., FESO Joins the SSRA Medical Advisory Board
The Superficial Siderosis Research Alliance is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor David Werring, FRCP Ph.D. FESO to the SSRA Medical and Scientific Advisory Board.
Professor Werring brings a rich experience into research and clinical care of superficial siderosis patients. Professor Werring has published over 300 papers and contributed to several books. He is an editor of the forthcoming Queen Square textbook of Neurology. In addition, he is President-Elect, British and Irish Association of Stroke Physicians (BIASP) 2022-2024
David is Professor of Clinical Neurology and Honorary Consultant Neurologist at the Stroke Research Centre, UCL Institute of Neurology, Queen Square, and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN), University College Hospitals (UCH) NHS Foundation Trust.
He trained in medicine at Guy’s hospital and neurology at Kings College Hospital, St Thomas’ hospital, and the National Hospital, Queen Square. Professor Werring contributes to delivering hyperacute and acute stroke care and runs a specialist clinical service and research program in intracerebral hemorrhage and cerebral small vessel disease.
He leads the Research Department of Brain Repair and Rehabilitation at the Institute of Neurology, Chair of the Association of British Neurologists Stroke Advisory Group, Stroke Specialty Lead for the NIHR North Thames Clinical Research Network, Secretary of the British Association of Stroke Physicians, Expert Advisor to the NICE center for guidelines, and on the Editorial Boards of the European Journal of Neurology, European Stroke Journal, and Practical Neurology. David is also Chair-Elect for the UK Stroke Forum, the largest multidisciplinary event for stroke care professionals in the UK.
